TV Star Mukesh Khanna Bats for Prohibition

Patna: Television serial 'Shaktiman' fame Mukesh Khanna arrived in Patna on Saturday to take part in a school program organized by Vanashtali Gyanpeeth in Kurthaul.

Khanna, who is also the chairperson of the Children's Film Society of India, was given a warm welcome at the airport where a large crowd had gathered outside to get a glimpse of the star, also known for his portrayal of Bheeshm Pitamah in B R Chopra directed television serial Mahabharat.

Speaking at the school, Khanna lauded Chief Minister Nitish Kumar for imposing prohibition in Bihar saying drinking led to nothing but disaster of all sorts and had been a teetotaler throughout his life.

"This (prohibition in Bihar) was a historic decision and I am completely in favor of it. I am proud to say that I have never drank alcoholic beverage in my life and I advice all children never to indulge in such drinking liquor," Khanna said.

On the occasion, the school, with the help of dance teacher Harshit Gandhi, presented a colorful dance in honor of the television star.
