Take Back Hong Kong and Restrain China

What started as a local outbreak of pneumonia-like fever early this year in Wuhan, China, culminating into international pandemic (unstopped so far), the Black Lives Matter protest estimated to be the biggest in the US history, the Indo-Chinese skirmish in the Himalayas and the pro-democratic freedom movement in Hong Kong are some of the events that will be seared into the memory of generations to come.

Seven months into the year, it appears we have already lived a life of decades. The pre-pandemic world is not coming back and the state of the world after all this is over (hopefully) seems to be unpredictable and uncertain.

Whatever might be the state of the world, the insidious aggressive and colonizing claws of the Chinese dragon will be a formidable force for the world to exorcise.

Compare the United States and China at the turns of history in two different eras when they were looked upon as number one and number two Super Power. The USA had helped defeat the Fascist forces and establish democracies around the world, aided reconstruction of a devastated Europe, led efforts to set up international bodies like the United Nations and benefited the world (even for profit) with its science and invention.

On the other hand, besides being an ambitious expansionist and extortionist colonizing power, China had no contribution of such nature. In fact, as a brute mercantilist, after exporting Coronavirus to Europe and to the USA via Europe, it sold at black market prices medical and essential equipment to these countries -- the same countries that transferred their manufacturing and other businesses to China to help it become rich.

The Chinese venomous tentacles from Bangladesh to Sri Lanka to Maldives to the vulnerable smaller nations of Latin America and Africa are clear and present danger to the world.

The major powers of the world do recognize the threat coming from China. However, if they don't unite to act and continue to believe in appeasing rather than containing China, they will be inflicting to themselves and to the world grievous injury that will take a very long time to recover from.

The immediate first step for the international community must be to grant a separate nationhood to Hong Kong and recognize the government formed by its democracy and liberty-loving people whose struggle has been exemplary.

Leading countries like India, Australia, Japan and the United States must quickly provide security and protection to the new island country against the Chinese by forming a naval blockade. Hong Kong and Taiwan will form alliances with other South East Asian and South China Sea countries to restrain China.

If the United Kingdom has to revoke its treaty with China on Hong Kong retroactively, it must do that. After all, China goes back on its words and reneges international understanding with ease and impunity.

India must lead with its diplomatic and military effort and strike the iron when it's hot. As Hong Kong is in turmoil and the rest of the world has been tormented by China, there couldn't be a more opportune time.
