Musical Geniuses Regale Patna'ites with their Art

Patna: Classical music aficionados in Patna had one of the best days of their lives when nearly a dozen world-class musical maestros gathered at a function in Patna to present their art in an unique form named 'Panchtatva', depicting the five elements of the universe namely the ether, or sky (akaash), wind (vaayu), agni (fire), jal (water), and prithvi (earth).

{gallery}newsimages2016/apr/041616{/gallery}The brainchild of Durga Jasraj, the daughter of noted vocalist Pandit Jasraj, with initiation by Patna Divisional Commissioner Anand Kishore, the event featured Pandit Jasraj himself, Hari Prasad Chaursasia (flute), Pandit Vishwa Mohan Bhatt (Mohan Veena), Taufique Qureshi (percussion), Ratan Mohan Sharma (classical singing), Sridhar Parthasarathi (Mridangam), Shubhankar Banerjee (Tabla), Devopriya Randive (Flute), Atul Phadke (Harmonium), and Durga Jasraj (poetry).

While sky was be represented by Ratan Mohan Sharma and Ankita Joshi, Vishwa Mohan Bhatt, with his Mohan Veena, presented his own rendition to represent water. Air was depicted by Chaurasia and Randive while earth was depicted by Pandit Jasraj himself. Qureshi represented fire with the assistance of Parthasarathi and Banerjee.

Held at the Sri Krishna Memorial Hall and organized by the Sri Krishna Smarak Vikas Samiti, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and Bihar Tourism Minister Anita Devi inaugurated the program.
