Patna: Nearly a dozen school children walked away with only minor injuries after the school bus they were riding fell into a ditch on Tuesday morning near RMS Colony intersection in Patna while trying to avoid a collision with an auto-rickshaw.

The incident occurred while the bus was transporting about ten students to the Delhi Model Public School. As reported, an auto, with its driver apparently not paying attention, came directly in front of the school bus whose driver, in order to avoid the accident, swirled to the left and fell in a ten-feet deep ditch filled with rain water.

People in the area rushed to the bus and managed to pull all children out of the bus who only suffered minor injuries that did not require hospitalization.

The bus was later pulled out of the ditch with a crane. Police has filed a report with the traffic police.

School officials, parents of the children, and the police commended the passers-by for quick action in pulling the children out of the bus to safety.
