Patna: Students with allegiance to Ram Vilas Paswan's Lok Janshakti Party (LJP) in Patna on Friday took out a protest rally against Nitish government after the supporters of a Janata Dal – U MLC threatened to kill a journalist in Nalanda district for reporting a negative story on the legislator.

As reported, just days after senior journalist Rajdev Ranjan was gunned down by criminals in Siwan, four men walked into the office of Rajesh Singh, the Nalanda bureau chief of a Hindi newspaper, and threatened to kill him if he did not apologize to JD-U MLC Heera Prasad Bind and issue a retraction for a story published a couple of days ago during the Panchayat election in which the MLC and his goons were accused of trying to intimidate the voters.

"Apparently you haven't learnt any lesson from the Siwan killing. If you did not beg for mercy and issue a retraction, you will meet the same fate as the Siwan journalist (Rajdev Ranjan)," the four men told Singh at his office on Thursday morning.

Police confirmed an FIR lodged by Singh with the Laheri police station against four unidentified men for verbally abusing and threatening him with dire consequences.

Superintendent of Police (SP) Ashish Kumar said an investigation had been initiated and guilty would soon be brought to justice.

JD-U spokesperson Rajiv Ranjan also said that the government would deal with the MLC with strong hand if he was found guilty as accused.
