Patna: Police in Patna on Wednesday busted a prostitution business following the arrest of two women and three customers from an apartment near old Bypass Road under Kankarbagh police station.

Following up on complaints filed by a number of residents in the Sanyukta Apartments, a police team raided Flat Number 206 in the building and arrested three men performing sexual acts with two young women.

All five were taken into custody and were being grilled by the police for more information.

Authorities said both girls were from Kolkata. They told the police that they were kept in the apartment like prisoners and were not allowed to be seen in public. The kingpin, including a woman, however, managed to escape before the police could raid the apartment; Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Manu Maharaj said adding customers were charged Rs. 2,000 to have sex with the customers.

Neighbors in the building said that the apartment in question had a high traffic of young girls and suspicious characters that were constantly going in and coming out of the flat.

Police is trying to locate the owner of the apartment. Arrested men were identified as Muzaffarpur native Ashok Kumar, Vaishali native Samarjeet Kumar, and Jehanabad resident Mohammed Sirajuddin.
