Patna: Three weeks after she surrendered in a Gaya court, former Janata Dal – U legislative council member and the mother of murder accused Rocky Yadav, Manorama Devi was granted bail in the case involving recovery of alcohol bottles during a police raid at her home in Gaya.

The MLC, who also happens to be the wife of Gaya gangster Bindi Yadav, was granted bail by Patna High Court on Monday after the court ruled that possession of liquor bottles in itself was not in violation of the Bihar Excise Act and only sale and consumption of alcohol were illegal under the new laws.

As per the new laws as announced by the Nitish cabinet, one could be jailed up to a period of ten years if the person was found to be in possession of liquor bottles at home. It also allowed for the seizure and auction of the property giving the government almost unlimited power to go after those in its enemy list.

Meanwhile, a Gaya court on Monday delayed a verdict on the bail petition of Bindi Yadav, the father of Rocky Yadav who remains the key accused in the murder of Aditya Sachdeva, the 20-year old son of a Gaya businessman.

Sachdeva was gunned down from a close range after he tried to overtake Rocky's car on a Gaya highway on the night of May 8 this year.

The court delayed its decision due to non-submission of the police diary in the case.

The next date of hearing is set for June 9.

In a related development, the state police on Monday filed a 462-page charge-sheet against key accused Rocky Yadav who continues to remain in the judicial custody.
