The raids followed after the Education Department lodged FIRs against the three students on late Monday night with the Kotwali police station.

Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, under pressure from the opposition, had ordered full probe into the scandal by a Special Investigative Team 'to bring the culprits to justice'.

Police also questioned the BSEB Chairperson Lalkeshwar Prasad Singh, Balak High School Principal B P Yadav, and Bishun Roy College owner Bachcha Rai in connection with the scandal.

Since the scandal broke out about ten days ago, the BSEB had revoked the honors of the three toppers including Saurabh Shreshtha, Rahul Kumar, and Ruby Rai.

Meanwhile, Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) President Lalu Prasad Yadav, at a press conference in Patna on Tuesday, refused to take questions on this issue only saying the 'culprits would be caught and put behind bars'.

A close associate of the RJD chief, Vishun Rai College owner Bachcha Rai is said to have campaigned heavily for both Tej Pratap Yadav and Tejaswi Yadav – the two sons of Lalu and Rabri Devi – in the last Assembly elections.
