Patna: Anand Kishore, the new Chairperson of the Bihar School Examination Board (BSEB), on Thursday assumed charge of his new department after serving successfully as Patna's Development Commissioner for the last ten months.
Kishore, a senior IAS officer, was appointed to lead the embattled BSEB after the previous Chairperson Lalkeshwar Prasad Singh, amidst Class XII fake toppers scandal, abruptly resigned from his post on Tuesday and went into hiding to avoid legal actions, including possible arrest.
Pledging to clean the system, Kishore said that he would immediately go to work to put the Board back on track by adopting a number of new measures to root out corruption and promote full transparency so Bihar is never again faced with such embarrassing situation.
"There is no doubt the scandal has left Bihar bruised in its image and I will spare no stone unturned in identifying the culprits and bring them to justice. It is a matter of great pride for me to be entrusted with this responsibility and I will do everything in my capacity to restore the image of Bihar while maintaining full transparency in the system," the new BSEB Chairperson said.
Some of the things that he would immediately introduce include creation of an online portal where students and their guardians would be able to register their complaints. He would also launch a thorough investigation to check the affiliation of schools and colleges to ensure they were not fake and met the requirements as set by the law.
Introduction of security cameras at all BSEB and related offices, biometric employee login system to check illegal entries, and further computerization of the Board office were among several other measures that Kishore talked about.BLOG COMMENTS POWERED BY DISQUS
