Patna: After cracking down on students wearing jeans and skin-tight leggings along with other provocative attire, the Principal of Magadh Mahila College on Thursday ordered the removal of all vendors within the college campus saying the decision was taken in the interest of the safety of the students.

Dr. Asha Singh, the Principal of Patna's premier women's college, said that all the vendors had been asked to move their business outside the main gate of the college and those who were found to defy the order would be fined Rs. 5,000 each.

The college also placed restrictions on the entrance of parents and guardians of the students saying they would be stopped at the main gate.

"Without college permission, they would not be allowed to enter the campus," Dr. Singh said adding the steps were being taken for the security of the students.

Officials said that a number of illegal vendors selling everything from street food to shoes and sandals had started to put up their stalls within the college campus and it created an unsafe environment for the students.
