Patna: Police in Patna on Tuesday arrested one man in connection with the Monday night murder of Ramchandra Jha, a marble trader who was gunned down in Mithila Colony under Beur police station.
Based on the findings of their investigation, police arrested one Rohit Kumar who told the police that he was acting at the behest of Ranjit Kumar, a former business partner of the victim.
Patna Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Manu Maharaj said the victim's family had filed an FIR against six men including Ranjit and Rohit, on Monday.
As reported, Jha, 35, was returning to his home on late Monday evening after buying vegetables from a nearby market when he was shot multiple times. He was first taken to the Gardanibagh Hospital and then to the Patna Medical College and Hospital (PMCH) where he was declared dead on arrival.
"The crime appears to be motivated by old enmity due to dispute over money. Ranjit used to be Jha's partner but the two parted ways after differences surfaced over payment of some money. Ranjit was arrested last year after being found in possession of illegal arms and was sent to jail. However, he was released on bail earlier this year. Since then he had been hounding Jha for his money," police said.
The SSP said efforts were on to nab Rohit Kumar and four others named in the FIR.BLOG COMMENTS POWERED BY DISQUS
