Patna: Sanjay Singh, Janata Dal – U legislator and a close aide of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, on Thursday said that the nation's fortune will change the day Kumar sits on the chair of the Prime Minister of India.

"Though the Chief Minister has kept himself out of the race of the Prime Minister so far, it would be the beginning of the rise of India's fortune the day he occupies the Prime Minister's office. Moreover, it would also be a matter of great pride for Bihar," Singh, the party spokesperson said.

Taking a shot at Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader and former Deputy Chief Minister of Bihar Sushil Kumar Modi, the JD-U legislator said that it was Modi himself who, while visiting the London School of Economics, had said that Nitish Kumar was a suitable candidate for the Prime Minister's post.

"When a poor tea seller's son can become the Prime Minister of India then why can't the son of a freedom fighter and a doctor occupy the same post? Nitish Kumar had been an MP, has managed several departments at the Center before becoming the Chief Minister of Bihar. He has what it takes to become the Prime Minister of India. Even senior party leader Sharad Yadav has said that Kumar has all the qualities of a great Prime Minister," Sanjay Singh said adding once Kumar comes at the national stage, all BJP leaders will look like dwarves.
