Patna: A very generous Lalu Prasad Yadav and his wife Rabri Devi, at a press conference in Patna on Sunday, declared that they would not be taking dowry in the marriages of their two sons Tej Pratap Yadav and Tejaswi Yadav, the Health Minister and the Deputy Chief Minister of Bihar respectively.
Speaking to the media on Sunday that also happened to be the 28th birthday of Tej Pratap Yadav, the RJD chief said that his family has decided not to take 'a penny' in dowry from the girls' families for the weddings of their two sons.
"We are completely against dowry system and will not take one paisa from the bride's family when my two sons are ready to get married," Yadav said adding he was also not averse to getting his two sons married to girls from economically weak background.
"I will help the girl and her family as needed so long she is willing to take the whole family together," the RJD chief said.
Turning his attention towards Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Sushil Kumar Modi who has made repeated accusations against Yadav and his family of acquiring properties in high-priced areas above and beyond their known sources of income, the former Chief Minister of Bihar said that the BJP leader was 'anti-Yadav' and that is why he was giving such a hard time to the new BJP state President Nityanand Rai.
"Nityanand Rai is an Yadav and that is why he is under assault by Modi and other BJP leaders," he said.
Denying all allegations of amassing properties beyond their combined means of income, Yadav said that Modi had a history of making unsubstantiated charges against his political enemies but luckily no one paid any attention to him anymore.
He also defended his two sons saying both Tej Pratap Yadav and Tejaswi Yadav were squeaky clean and none of the charges leveled against them by Modi was true.BLOG COMMENTS POWERED BY DISQUS
