Patna: Police in Patna on Tuesday arrested six men in connection with a three-month old armed robbery of employees of a petrol pump on Patna-Masaurhi Road under Gaurichak police station in which the criminals had gotten away with nearly Rs. 19 lakh in cash.
The robbery occurred on June 12 when two employees of the petrol pump were going to a local bank to deposit cash from sales from the previous day.
The criminals were identified as Pramod Kewat, Rahul Kumar, Rahul Kumar Chandra, Krishnakant Tiwari who is the son of an army jawan, Nitish Kumar, and Ravi Kumar.
During the investigation, police had arrested one Wazir Ali of Sonepur. Based on the information provided by him, police raided several places in Patna and around on Tuesday and arrested six men who are said to be part of a robbery gang active in Patna, Muzaffarpu, Jehanabad, and Saran.
Police seized deposit receipts and a bank pass-book from Pramod's house. They also recovered two country-made pistols and five bullets during the raid.
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Manu Maharaj said that after the daring heist, the money was split between the robbers. While some money was used to purchase luxury items, some others were used to repay past loans to local loan sharks.BLOG COMMENTS POWERED BY DISQUS
