Patna: In a display of extreme conceit and political hubris, Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Bhai Virendra, known for many of his controversial statements, on Tuesday said that if Nitish Kumar issued a heartfelt apology to his 'bade bhai' (elder brother) and RJD chief Lalu Prasad Yadav, he may be allowed to come back to the Grand Alliance fold.
"If Nitish Kumar seeks sincere apology from Lalu Prasad Yadav, we may consider his return in the Mahagathbandhan. He has himself said that Lalu ji is like his elder brother and as the younger brother, if he admits his errors and asks for apology, no one will say anything to him. Lalu ji is very innocent and does not hold any grudge against anyone so I am certain he will surely forgive him and welcome him with his arms wide open," the RJD leader said.
Obviously not pleased by RJD's arrogance, Janata Dal – U leaders wasted no time in showing the proverbial middle finger to their former allies.
Party spokesperson Nikhil Ranjan said that it was preposterous for the RJD leaders to even think that Nitish Kumar will ever go back to the camp whose leaders are on the verge of being sent to prison in connection with many corruption cases.
"RJD leaders should know their 'aukat'. They don't even deserve to take the name of Nitish Kumar whose reputation, unlike the RJD chief and his family members, remains unblemished. If anything at all, they should beg for forgiveness from Nitish Kumar for trying to besmirch his reputation by taking advantage of his clean image," Ranjan said.
Meanwhile, former Deputy Chief Minister Tejaswi Yadav, like his father Lalu Prasad Yadav yesterday, sought two-week delay in his appearance before the CBI in connection with the corruption cases against him.
Arriving with his lawyer early Tuesday morning, Yadav requested two-week delay to prepare his case which was approved by the CBI.
This is the second time both father and son have avoided appearing before the CBI investigators.
It is believed RJD chief's wife and Tejaswi Yadav's mother Rabri Devi, who is scheduled to appear before the Enforcement Directorate officials in Delhi on Wednesday, will also seek extension in her schedule on some excuse or the other.BLOG COMMENTS POWERED BY DISQUS
