Man Shot and Robbed of Rs. 1 Lakh in Cash; Expected to Survive

Patna: Criminals, defying law and order in the city, shot a 23-year old man in his stomach and escaped with Rs. 1 lakh in cash on Thursday afternoon.

The incident took place near a slum behind Panchshiva Temple in Kankarbagh around 2:30 pm.

Samir Kumar Singh brought to a local hospital after being shot by criminals in Patna on Thursday.As reported, Samir Kumar Singh, a native of Jamui living in a rental house in Beur area in Patna worked as a collection agent for the Sudha Dairy. On Thursday, he had collected about Rs. 1 lakh and was headed to other vendors to collect money from them when two men wearing helmet on a motorcycle forced him to pull over near a slum behind the temple.

They tried to snatch the laptop bag that contained money but when Samir showed reluctance in handing over the cash to them, the man sitting on the passenger seat pulled a gun and shot him from behind.

The bullet pierced his body coming out from his stomach. The criminals then took the bag and escaped.

Locals in the area called the police. Samir was rushed to a nearby hospital and then transferred to the Patna Medical College and Hospital (PMCH) where he remains in critical condition but out of danger.

Samir was able to speak but told the police he could not tell which way the criminals went after the robbery.

Authorities are hoping to catch the criminals by identifying them on video footage captured on surveillance cameras in the region.
