Patna: Police in Patna on Sunday arrested four men in connection with the August 29 armed robbery of a cash van from Patna-Masaurhi Road under Dhanarua police station in which the criminals had gotten away with Rs. 45 lakh in cash.
Acting on a tip-off after someone identified them from a police sketch, police raided a house near Saguna Mor in Patna on Sunday and arrested Santosh Pawan and Vikas Kumar. The two, during the police interrogation, spilled the beans on two other partners in crime following which police arrest Sanjeet Kumar from his home in Masaurhi and Vicky Kumar from Punpun.
Two other accomplices who were identified as Suppu and Bablu were yet to attrested.
Police seized Rs. 2 lakh in cash, two SUVs, more than a dozen cell phones, a property deed, several gold and silver jewelries, three motorbikes, one 9 mm pistol, three country-made pistols and 22 live cartridges during raids at the homes of the four men.
As reported, the daring heist took place on August 20 when the armored vehicle was carrying a large amount of cash from the Allahabad Bank branch in Masaurhi to its branch in Patna. A private security guard was shot during the robbery who survived his injury.
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Manu Maharaj, at a press conference in Patna, said that the criminals, after robbing the armored van, spent money in buying a piece of land in Masaurhi, a used SUV, a brand-new SUV after putting Rs. 4.5 lakh as down payment, gold and silver jewelries, and a number of home appliances.
