Patna: Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Tejaswi Yadav, after a week-long attack on Janata Dal – U leaders over prohibition issue, including releasing a picture of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar with a man accused in a hooch tragedy, screamed foul on Friday when the JD-U hit back on him releasing a photo of Yadav with a glamorous girl and a bottle of liquor in the background.

Yadav, who earlier accused the senior JD-U leader RCP Singh of being the kingpin of the so-called liquor mafia, took offence of the picture of him with an unidentified girl's arms around his waist and a bottle of liquor visible in the background saying he did not think the JD-U would stoop this low and bring the politics to this level just to score a point.

"This picture was taken when I used to play cricket in Ranji Trophy. Many people used to come and take pictures with me but and that is all there is to it. I am ashamed at the way Nitish Kumar and his men are bringing the level of politics down in Bihar," the former Deputy Chief Minister said.

On Friday, JD-U spokesperson Sanjay Singh held a press conference in Patna during which he waved a picture of Yadav with the unidentified girl saying the man who was lecturing Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on a group picture that was taken innocently at his residence was also seen with girls and booze when he thought no one was going to find out about it.

"This picture proves Tejaswi Yadav regularly consumes alcohol and maintains relationship with girls. His father Lalu Prasad Yadav should order a blood-alcohol test on him. He should also allow a thorough search of all of his residences for liquor bottles stashed by his sons," Singh said.

The JD-U leader also demanded to know why Tejaswi Yadav, against the established protocol, did not stay at Bihar Bhawan in Delhi when he was the Deputy Chief Minister of Bihar.

"He never stayed at the Bihar Bhawan which is where the Chief Minister and Deputy Chief Minister of Bihar are expected to stay in Delhi. Instead, he stayed at private homes where he was not being watched and was free to meet with women and indulge in alcohol consumption," another JD-U spokesperson Neeraj Kumar said.

Angrily reacting to all allegations, Yadav on Friday said that the JD-U, by making insinuations that he was a womanizer and an alcohol lover, had lowered the level of political discourse.

"This photo was taken sometime in 2010 when I was a Ranji player. There used to be parties after any match and this picture was taken during one of those parties. I don't see anything wrong with this image that BJP likes to show whenever it wants to score a political point against me," he said adding the NDA was indulging in character assassination to divert attention from a number of scandals in Bihar.

Reacting to JD-U's question on why he refrains from staying at Bihar Bhawan in Delhi, Yadav said that he has seven sisters six of which live in Delhi and he prefers to stay with them because he comes from a 'very large family'.
