Patna: Deputy Chief Minister Sushil Kumar Modi on Saturday said that India's first timber mart would become operational in Hajipur by the end of March next year making it easier and profitable for farmers engaged in timber logs and forestry industry.

The Timer Mart would be developed in an area of half acre of land in the Hajipur Bazaar Samiti.

"The move will not only increase the income of the farmers engaged in timber business, it would also help Prime Minister Narendra Modi in keeping his promise to double farmers' income," the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader said.

With Bihar government convinced of the success of nearly every scheme so long there was an 'e-' attached before its name, Modi said that the proposed timber market would act as an 'e-market' where sellers and buyers would be able to utilize a web site and a smart-phone app to make transaction convenient and easy for all.
