Patna: Though a simple 'we're sorry' should suffice, Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) President Lalu Prasad Yadav instead chose to ridicule Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader and Deputy Chief Minister Sushil Kumar Modi for changing the venue of his son's wedding following threat of violence issued by his son Tej Pratap Yadav.

Making light of his son's threat, Yadav defended Tej Pratap saying it was all said in jest and his son, a former Bihar minister, did not mean anything.

"Tej Pratap just hissed and Modi got so scared that he changed the venue of his son's wedding. The BJP leader does not need to be a such a 'darpok' (coward) and should go ahead with his son's wedding without any fear of anything. Our best wishes are with them," the RJD chief said.

As reported, Tej Pratap Yadav, the elder son of Lalu and Rabri Devi, was caught on video making threats against the Deputy Chief Minister saying he would crash the wedding party and beat up Modi before all the guests.

"Sushil Modi recently called to invite us to his son Utkarsh's marriage. I think he is trying to humiliate us by extending the invitation. He is our enemy and if I go, I will hold a meeting at the marriage venue and expose him. I will disrupt the function and beat up Modi in his own house in front of everyone. I will humiliate him. I am not afraid of anyone because I am the son of Lalu Prasad Yadav," the former Health Minister is seen saying in a video that went viral a few days ago.

Concerned with his own and his family's safety, the Deputy Chief Minister changed the wedding venue from Rajendra Nagar Shakha Maidan to the Veterinary College ground despite invitation cards already been printed and mailed to expected guests.

Janata Dal – U spokesperson Sanjay Singh, reacting to Lalu Prasad Yadav's defense of his son, said that only snakes hiss; humans don't.

"Hissing sound is made by snakes, not by humans. Even tigers roar, not hiss. We are glad that the RJD chief has found out that his son is a snake," Singh said.

Meanwhile, once again refusing to apologize for his incendiary statement, the former Health Minister said that he was 'neither a criminal nor a terrorist' and Modi had nothing to be worried about.
