Bihar Tennis Players Lose in Pre-Quarter Final Round

Patna: The dream of clinching the All India Ranking Prize Money Tennis Tourney came crashing down for Swapnil Sinha and Sanoj Kumar, the two promising tennis player from Bihar, when they lost their bid to advance to the next round while playing in the pre-quarter final round.

While Swapnil lost his match against Uttar Pradesh's Mrityunjay Singh 6-3, 6-1, Sanoj was defeated by Karnataka's Anchit Bhagat 6-4, 6-1 at the match played at the Pataliputra Tennis Court.

Both Swapnil and Sanoj, unfettered by their early departure from the match, swore to work harder and come back stronger in the next year's championship.

In other matches, Karnataka's P Venugopal beats Abodh Kundra, also of Karnataka, 6-1, 6-0, Assam's Mohammed Sheikh Iftikhar beats Preston of Maharashtra 6-1, 6-0, Rupesh Roy of West Bengal beats Madhya Pradesh's Aman Bhavasar 6-1, 6-0; Shahul Anwar of Karnataka beats Vinay Kumar 6-4, 6-2; Delhi's Himanshu Sagar beats Karnataka's Kritik 6-2, 4-6, 6-2 to advance to the quarter finals.
