Patna: A week after grilling former Chief Minister of Bihar and Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Rabri Devi, the Enforcement Directorate on Friday attached three acres of land owned by party President Lalu Prasad Yadav and other members of the family in Patna valued at Rs. 45 crore.
The property where the Yadav family was building a posh mall was attached by the ED under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) after determining that the land in question indeed was connected to the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) quid pro quo case at the time when Yadav was the Union Railway Minister in the erstwhile UPA government.
As has been reported in the past, the former Railway Minister transferred the upkeep of two Indian Railways-owned hotels in Ranchi and Puri to the Sujata Hotel Group of Patna through a fictitious company named Delight Marketing Company registered over a period of five years under different names including Sarla Gupta (wife of RJD leader Prem Gupta), Rabri Devi, and Yadav's son and former Deputy Chief Minister Tejaswi Yadav.
Putting up a brave face amidst allegations of corruption, Tejaswi Yadav, who appeared before the ED today in Patna for further questioning, called the investigation a witch-hunt launched by Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader and Deputy Chief Minister Sushil Kumar Modi and Prime Minister Narendra Modi to humiliate his father and rest of the family members.
"This is a conspiracy against us but we are not afraid of anything. We will fight it in the court of law and I guarantee you nothing will come out of this investigation," Yadav told reporters in Patna on Friday.
He challenged the ED and the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to file charges against him or any of his family members so they all could come out clean after the 'fake probe' is over.
"After all these grilling and questioning of me and my family members, neither the CBI nor the ED has filed any charge against us. That is because they don't have anything against us," the youngest member of the RJD family said.
The former Deputy CM called upon the integrity of the investigations saying it was quite telling that while the entire central investigative mechanism was deployed to manufacture evidence against his family, not one enquiry was ordered against BJP national President Amit Shah's son Jay Shah who also faces some serious corruption charges.BLOG COMMENTS POWERED BY DISQUS
