Patna: Determined to remain in news as a one-man army concerned with the problems of the little people in Bihar, Jan Adhikar Party (JAP) leader Pappu Yadav and his cohorts blocked the railway track at Patna's Rajendra Nagar Terminal on Sunday to protest against growing crime in the state and the government's new sand and mining policy.

Yadav's supporters blocked the railway track at nearly half a dozen places in the Howrah-Mughalsarai division of the East-Central Railways disrupting traffic for several hours.

Among the trains delayed due to the actions of Madhepura MP and his supporters were Mokama-Danapur Passenger, Ranchi Janshatabdi Express, Danapur-Tata, Buxar-Patna MEMU, Jha Jha-Patna Passenger, and Amritsar-Howrah Express causing much inconvenience to the travelers.

Madhepura MP Pappu Yadav being detained by railway police at Rajendra Nagar Terminal in Patna on Sunday.

Attempt to remove the protestors from the railway tracks by the Railway Protection Force (RPF), however, failed forcing the authorities to use some light force. Some of the protestors who were squatting on the track at the Rajendra Nagar Terminal were forcibly removed and placed in police custody.

Meanwhile, the railway police have filed an FIR against Pappu Yadav and 55 of his supporters for disturbing peace, disrupting railway traffic, and clashing with the RPF jawans.
