Patna: Bihar Governor Satya Pal Malik and Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Tuesday paid floral tribute to the Father of the Nation Mahatma Gandhi to mark the 70th anniversary of his assassination.

The event took place at the Gandhi Ghat behind the National Institute of Technology (NIT), formerly known as Bihar College of Engineering.

On the occasion, the guests observed a 2-minute silence in honor of all freedom fighters who gave their lives fighting against the British Raj to secure India's independence.

Road Construction Minister Nand Kishore Yadav, JD-U legislator Shyam Rajak, Child Labor Commission former chairperson Anita Sinha, Patna District Magistrate (DM) Kumar Ravi, and Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Manu Maharaj were among many who were present on the occasion.

Gandhi was also remembered by the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) and Congress leaders at their respective headquarters in Patna.

Meanwhile, drama and musical group 'Hajju' re-enacted the assassination of Bapu at a function at Gandhi Maidan in Patna on Tuesday.
