Patna: Chief Minister, at the end of his weekly Lok Samvad program, previously known as the 'Janata Durbar', slammed his off-again-on-again friend/big brother Lalu Prasad Yadav saying the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) chief committed the crime and was doing time in a jail but it was he who was being blamed for Yadav's current plight.

"Lalu Prasad Yadav has been convicted in a crime that was committed 20 years ago. The original PIL was filed by Sushil Kumar Modi, Lallan Singh, Saryu Rai, and none other than Lalu Prasad Yadav's current right-hand man Shivanand Tiwari. Neither I nor Narendra Modi had anything to do with his crime or punishment so why both of us are being blamed in the media?" he asked.

Taking a direct aim at Tiwari, Kumar said that it was he who pursued case of corruption involving fodder scam against Yadav but now that the RJD chief was convicted and was in jail, Tiwari had started singing a new tune.

"As far as I am concerned, I don't like to make comments on a judicial decision. Such topics should not be given this much prominence," Kumar said.

The Chief Minister was reacting to allegations by the RJD leaders that it was he who helped frame Lalu Prasad Yadav that resulted in his conviction and incarceration in the fodder scam.

Warding off criticism of becoming a puppet of the BJP, Kumar said that he was the head of the government in Bihar and not the chief of the NDA. I have said repeatedly that I can tolerate a lot of things but corruption and bad governance are not one of them.

"I have made it very clear that I will not compromise on corruption issue. The way the RJD leaders were acting when Bihar had the Grand Alliance, I had no choice but to leave the coalition. Our commitment has always been towards good governance and the development of Bihar. Today we have the support of the Center and we will continue to get its support as and when needed," the Chief Minister said.

Kumar also rubbished claims of crime graph skyrocketing in Bihar saying Bihar was at the 22nd spot in a recent list of most crime committed in any state released by the Home Ministry.

In a stunning revelation, the Chief Minister said that he knew from the very beginning that the Grand Alliance with the RJD and Congress was doomed to fail from the get go but in spite of that, he tried his level best to keep it going and making it stronger.
