Patna: Bihar Assembly building in Patna was all decked up on Thursday for the four-day 6th Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (CPA) conference that kicks off on Friday featuring delegates from all Indian states and both Houses of the Parliament to talk about a host of legal and constitutional issues and their impact on the functioning of the government.
A number of legislators from foreign nations are also expected to participate in the four-day event being hosted in Bihar for the first time.
The program will kick-off with an inaugural meeting at Hotel Maurya on Friday but the real program would begin with the speech of Lok Sabha Speaker Sumitra Mahajan at the Gyan Bhawan near Gandhi Maidan on Saturday.
Chief Minister Nitish Kumar will be the chief guest at the opening function.
Besides Gyan Bhawan, various events will be held at the two convention halls of the state Assembly and the state Legislative Council where keynote speakers will deliver their speech in the presence of delegates from other states and country, Bihar Assembly Speaker Vijay Kumar Chowdhary said.
Among the prominent guests to speak at the conference are senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)leader and MP Murli Manohar Joshi who is expected to speak on the Parliament’s role in development agenda Law Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad, a native of Patna, will speak on 'Legislature and Judiciary - Two Important Pillars of Democracy', the Speaker said.
