Patna: Police in Patna under Kotwali police station on Wednesday arrested an Indian Revenue Service (IRS) official and charged him with sexually assaulting a student from Sikkim living in Patna to prepare for medical entrance test.
Police arrested IRS Joint Commissioner Ram Babu Gupta after a student of Eklavya Super 50 Institute, a coaching center where nearly 30 girl students from Sikkim go to prepare for medical entrance test, filed a complaint with the local police stating she was molested and sexually attacked by the IRS official.
The student, whose name has been kept confidential for obvious reasons, also wrote to her father in Gangtok in Sikkim about her harrowing ordeal in the hands of Gupta.
Upon arriving at Patna, the girl's father lodged an FIR against Gupta and the manager of the coaching institute saying her daughter was asked to come to the institute office where Gupta groped her and touched other parts of her body inappropriately.
Other students of the institute confirmed the incident and said it was not the first time it had happened and despite appeal for help from the local police, the administration refused to look into the allegations.
Police also raided the hostel on Boring Road under Digha police station to determine how long such incidents were going on and who else was familiar with such acts by the officials.BLOG COMMENTS POWERED BY DISQUS
