Bollywood Beloved Actress Sridevi Passes Away at 54

Dubai: Veteran South and North Indian actress Sridevi with nearly 300 films to her credit died at the age of 54 in Dubai on Saturday where she, along with her husband Boney Kapoor and daughter Khushi Kapoor, had gone to attend the wedding of a family friend.

Family members attributed her death to a massive cardiac arrest.

A Padmashri award recipient, Sridevi, an accomplished dancer, won the hearts of the Bollywood with her first Hindi mega-hit Himmatwala in 1983. She went on to act in over 200 Hindi films co-starring with top Bollywood stars of the time including Amitabh Bachchan, Anil Kumar, Rishi Kapoor, Sanjay Dutt, Vinod Khanna, Shah Rukh Khan, and many others.

Sridevi was awarded Padmashri Award in 2013 and was the recipient of Filmfare's best actress award five times after being nominated ten times.

Condolences were pouring in from all quarters with most stars taking to Twitter to express their shock and disbelief of the tragic news.
