Patna: In a joint press conference of the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), Congress, and Hindustani Awam Morcha (HAM) in Patna on Monday, senior RJD leader and the son of Lalu Prasad Yadav, Tejaswi Yadav dedicated the victories of two party candidates from Araria and Jehanabad in the special election to the people of Bihar saying a fresh wind was blowing in the state where secular and like-minded parties will prove to be the death knell of the incumbent NDA regime.

"Lalu Prasad Yadav is not a person but a philosophy, an enigma. You can jail a person but you cannot contain a thought. His ideas will destroy the arrogance of the NDA," the former Deputy Chief Minister said at his residence on 5 Deshratna Marg on Wednesday.

It may be recalled that Lalu Prasad Yadav is currently languishing in a Jharkhand jail after being convicted in a scores of corruption cases.

Tejaswi Yadav further said that Kumar must resign now in the wake of the defeat of his candidate Abhiram Sharma in Jehanabad.

"Nitish Kumar had advised me to go to the public so I did. That's the reason our two candidates won handily over the BJP and JD-U candidates in Araria and Jehanabad," he said.

Sharma lost to Suday Yadav, the son of Mundrika Singh Yadav, senior RJD leader who passed away last year thus necessitating special poll for his seat.

In a pre-emptive line of defense, the RJD leader said that now that his party had humiliated the NDA leaders, he expected a surge in CBI and Income Tax raids at his and his family's homes in Patna and elsewhere.

Jitan Ram Manjhi, who quit the NDA to join the RJD in the hope that his candidate would be allowed to contest from the Jehanabad seat only to be disappointed by the seat-sharing arrangement, however, said that the people of Bihar had accepted Tejaswi Yadav as the future Chief Minister and as the leader of the HAM, was right behind him to support him all the way.

Congress state President Kaukab Qadri termed the victories of two RJD leaders as the victory of the Grand Alliance.
