Patna: Students of Chanakya National Law University (CNLU) in Patna on Wednesday took a victory lap when the Vice Chancellor (VC) of Kolkata-based National University of Juridical Sciences (NUJS) Prof. Ishwar Bhat, who was recently appointed the VC of CNLU amidst protest, resigned from his post on health and family grounds.

Bhat's appointment to CNLU had been opposed by the students in Patna from the very beginning after allegations of ethical and financial irregularities during his tenure at the NUJS surfaced few weeks ago.

Bhat's resignation will take effect on April 7, 2018.

CNLU is currently being run by acting VC and retired Justice Mritdula Mishra after regular VC A. Lakshminath resigned from his post on March 24.
