Ara: Four days after two reporters of Hindi daily Dainik Bhaskar were killed after being struck by an SUV from behind, the second accused in the case, Dablu Mian, under growing pressure from a special investigative unit, surrendered before an Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate (ACJM) in Ara on Wednesday.

His father, Harsu Mian, the main accused in the case and the husband of a former Panchayat mukhiya, was earlier arrested by the Ara police but his son had been absconding since Sunday night when the murder was committed.

As reported previously, 45-year old Navin Kumar Singh, a reporter with Dainik Bhaskar, and his associate Vijay Singh were returning to their homes on a motorcycle on Sunday night when a Scorpio allegedly driven by Harsu Mian, the husband of former mukhiya Shaheeda Parveen, came from behind and hit the motorcycle with full speed killing the two occupants on the spot.

The incident took place on Ara-Sasaram highway.

An FIR against the father-son duo was lodged by Navin's brother Rajesh with the Garhani police station.

Rejecting their bail plea, ACJM Pranav Shankar sent the two to jail under judicial custody until April 9.
