Patna: Amidst much media hype, Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leaders and former Chief Ministers of Bihar Lalu Prasad Yadav and Rabri Devi's elder son Tej Pratap Yadav, on Wednesday, got engaged to Aishwarya Rai, the grand daughter of yet another former CM of Bihar late Daroga Rai, in the presence of close friends and family members at Hotel Maurya in Patna.

Tej Pratap Yadav, whose Wikipedia page lists his birth year as 1989, strangely the same year as his younger brother Tejaswi Yadav, exchanged rings with the Aishwarya Rai, 25, daughter of Chandrika Rai, the son of late Daroga Rai and a former minister in the RJD government.

While nearly the entire family of Lalu Prasad Yadav and Rabri Devi was present at the engagement ceremony, family members and friends sorely missed the party chief himself who remains at a prison-provided room at a Delhi hospital on health ground after his conviction in the multi-crore rupees fodder scam.

With father in jail, it was up to the mother of the would-be groom to take charge of the event and ensure everything went as planned and without a glitch.

Members of both families were seen congratulating each other and sharing sweets among themselves.

Tej Pratap, who was the Health Minister in the Nitish-led Grand Alliance in Bihar until the coalition collapsed after multiple charges of corruption and financial irregularities surfaced against several members of the Yadav clan, expressed his disappointment with his father's appearance in a tweet that just said 'Miss you papa'.

His younger brother and former Deputy Chief Minister Tejaswi Yadav also tweeted stating he was confident his father will be granted parole to attend his brother's wedding to be held later next month.
