Patna: Senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader and Central Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad, at a press conference in Patna on Sunday ridiculed Congress President Rahul Gandhi's prophecy that the Congress was poised to take over power from the NDA in the 2019 parliamentary polls and state elections saying his predictions were as unreliable as 'counting stars in the daytime'.

"Shri Rahul Gandhi ji has obviously seen the future based on which he is making predictions about national and state elections. However, his predictions so many months ahead of the polls are as unreliable as trying to count stars in the sky during daytime.

Ironically, having said that, the Union Minister indulged in the same rhetoric that he accused Gandhi of – making prediction about future elections.

"Under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the BJP will win the 2019 Lok Sabha elections with a very comfortable margin," Prasad said.

The Union Law and IT Minister also took Gandhi to task on his disparaging comment on Prime Minister Modi's recent informal meet with Chinese President Xi Jinping in China.

"By making such comments, Gandhi undermines the dignity of India," he said.

As reported, the Congress chief, during the 'Akrosh Rally' in Delhi on Sunday, ripped Modi on a number of issues including economy, corruption, crime against women, frequent foreign trips, and pervasive cronyism within the NDA.

"The Congress President should know that it has always been the tradition of the Indian government not to criticize the Prime Minister on foreign policy. By questioning the Prime Minister's motives on his informal China trip, Rahul Gandhi has insulted the entire nation," the BJP leader said adding after losing every election since he took over the reins of the Congress Party, Rahul Gandhi was desperately trying to regain the respect of his party cadre that was now having serious doubts about his abilities.
