Patna: Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) chief Lalu Prasad Yadav, who is serving time in a Jharkhand jail for his involvement in the multi-crore rupees fodder scam, was granted a limited 5-day parole so he could attend the wedding of his older son Tej Pratap Yadav.
The wedding is to take place in Patna on May 12.
The former Bihar Health Minister got engaged to Aishwarya Rai, the grand-daughter of former Bihar Chief Minister Daroga Rai and the elder daughter of RJD leader Chandrika Rai, on April 18.
As reported, the Jharkhand Advocate General and the Superintendent of Police (SP) gave a 'no-objection' certificate to the former Chief Minister of Bihar so he could attend the wedding of his son. Even his doctors gave him a clean chit to attend the function in Patna.
Party sources said Yadav was to fly to Patna on Wednesday evening and was expected to remain in the state capital until May 14 after which he would be flown back to Ranchi.
Though deemed fit to attend the wedding of his son, the likelihood of him actually spending time behind bars, however, is expected to be limited as his doctors maintain his health condition requires constant monitoring and therefore needs to remain in the hospital under constant care of his physicians.
Soon after it was announced Yadav would be able to attend his son's wedding, a wave of jubilation spread within the Lalu-Rabri household along with among the well-wishers who said this would make the holy event of matrimony even more special.
"We are looking forward to see our leader without whom the wedding of Tej Pratap Yadav would not be the same as it would be in his presence," said party leader Ram Chandra Purvey.BLOG COMMENTS POWERED BY DISQUS
