Patna: Police in Patna on Monday nabbed two men and charged them in multiple cases of robbery involving chain-snatching from women doing morning walk at the Patna Zoo.

These men are part of a motorcycle gang that has been terrorizing innocent pedestrians mostly in the western part of the city like Bailey Road, Boring Road, and Dak Bungalow Road along with other areas like Kankarbagh, Gardanibagh, Mithapur, and Gandhi Maidan, police said.

The arrested men were identified as Birju Paswan and Jitendra Ram of Sheikhpura.

Rakesh Kumar Bhaskar, Secretariat police station in-charge, talking to reporters on Monday, said that there had been an upsurge in the cases of chain-snatching in the recent months and most of the victims were women coming to Patna Zoo for their daily morning walk.

"Following a number of complaints of chain-snatching, we formed a team to apprehend the robbers. Based on the surveillance video footages acquired from the area, we identified Birju Paswan and Jitendra Ram and made the arrest," Bhaskar said.

Patrolling across the state capital has been intensified to apprehend other gang members, police said.
