One Killed in Monday Morning Storm in Patna

Patna: Early morning sudden thunderstorm in Bihar claimed at least six lives, including one in the state capital, as reports of massive devastation poured in from a number of districts in the state.

In Patna, the storm hit the city around 1:00 am causing collapse of roofs, walls, trees, and electric poles causing power outage in many areas.

A 35-year old man who was identified as Akhilesh Rai died when a brick wall at his home in Digha collapsed over him burying him underneath.

Deaths were also reported from Saran, Darbhanga, Rohtas, and Khagaria districts. A 4-year old girl died when the roof of the house caved in in Khagaria district.

The Nitish government has announced Rs. 4 lakh in compensation money to the family of the deceased.
