Patna: Just hours before Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) President Lalu Prasad Yadav was scheduled to leave for Mumbai to seek better medical care for a host of physical ailments that he suffers from, a CBI team swooped on the 10 Circular Road, the official residence of Rabri Devi, and grilled her for over 45 minutes in connection with a number of fraud cases against her and other members of her family involving illegal acquisition of properties in Patna and elsewhere.
Sources said that the latest round of questioning was related to fraudulent railways tender scam that led to several properties transferred to Lalu Yadav's family members in an act of quid pro quo.
Others, however, suggested that Tuesday grilling of the Yadav household was related to alleged depositing of a large sum of cash in a co-operative bank during the demonetization phase of the Central government.
Bhola Yadav, the RJD legislator who has emerged as Lalu Prasad Yadav's closest friend, guide, and, care-taker in the last few months, speaking to reporters said that the CBI was questioning all those people who had deposited money in cooperative banks during the demonetization period and there was nothing sinister about it.
"Mrs. Rabri Devi was asked only a couple of questions and the CBI officers left after she handed over her latest income tax return files to them," Bhola Yadav said.BLOG COMMENTS POWERED BY DISQUS
