Patna: Police in Patna on Saturday arrested six young boys in connection with the gang rape of a 17-year old girl from Muzaffarpur who was repeatedly sexually assaulted at a private lodge in the state capital on May 29.

As reported, the Class XII student had come to Patna from Muzaffarpur on May 29 to meet a man named Ritesh Kumar of Lakhisarai after the two developed friendship on the social media.

Upon her arrival in Patna, Ritesh met her at Patna Junction from where the two went on sightseeing. Later in the evening, Ritesh asked her to come to a lodge in Sandalpur under Bahadurpur police station where one of his friends was celebrating his birthday.

"We booked a room in the lodge where Ritesh raped me in the night. Later, he invited his friends in the room who also went on to sexually assault me throughout the night. Somehow, I managed to escape from the lodge and came back to Muzaffarpur," the girl told the police adding they also made film of her rape on cellphone cameras and threatened to blackmail her if she went to the police.

The owner of the lodge, however, became suspicious and called the police. Acting on the information provided by the owner, police contacted a women's help group that got in touch with the girl and persuaded her to lodge an FIR against her rapists," Patna Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Manu Maharaj said.

Police arrested Ritesh from his home in Lakhisarai and also arrested Manish Kumar, Aman, Saurabh Kumar, Ayush Ranjan, and Priyanshu from their homes in Patna.
