Patna: A day after meeting with party President Rahul Gandhi at his residence in Delhi on Monday to find a new chief for the Bihar Congress, party leaders in Patna on Tuesday celebrated the 48th birthday of the man who is believed to be the face of the party in the next year's Lok Sabha elections.
Congress leaders in Bihar led by acting Bihar Pradesh Congress Committee (BPCC) chief Kaukab Qadri cut a big cake to mark Rahul Gandhi's birthday at Sadaqat Ashram, the party state headquarters, in Patna.
Praying long life for Gandhi, party leaders and workers also wished him success in the 2019 Parliamentary polls where he will go directly against sitting Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his massive support base.
Party leaders also distributed sweets among children in the Dalit basti in Digha area.
Speaking on the occasion, Qadri, who is hoping to have the approval of his boss so he could continue to remain the state party chief, said that Rahul Gandhi could have been the Prime Minister of India between 2004 and 2014 had he desired so at that time.
"Mr. Gandhi could have been the Prime Minister of India between 2004 and 2014 but he chose not to so he could strengthen the party from within and gain more experience at the same time," Qadri said.BLOG COMMENTS POWERED BY DISQUS
