Patna: Two private companies in Patna on Monday demonstrated state-of-the-art 'smart boards' for classrooms that will shortly be installed at six government schools in the state capital under the Smart City project.

Before Development Commissioners Anand Kishore at the Miller High School, the companies gave detailed demo of the 'smart board', an educational tool that replaces the traditional black board in the classrooms in most developed nations.

Talking to the reporters, Kishore said that in the first phase of the Smart City scheme, six government schools in Patna are being converted into 'smart school' where old and outdated method of teaching would be replaced by modern tools and techniques.

"The Smart City project is moving ahead in Bihar and modernization of our schools are very high on our priority list. To prepare our students for 21st century, we have plans to develop new teaching techniques in the classrooms using modern tools available to us. All classes will be turned into 'smart classes' and we are in the process of selecting the right company for this," the Development Commissioner said.
