Patna: Jan Adhikar Party (JAP) leader Pappu Yadav, after successfully organizing railway traffic disruption in Bihar on June 10 to press for special economic status, announced his decision to repeat the move on July 7 when he and his followers will call for Bihar bandh for the same reason as before.

The MP from Madhepura on Monday launched a signature campaign at the Boring Road intersection that would go on for the next three months in an attempt to build pressure on the Central government to grant special status to Bihar.

"Collected signature will be sent to the President of India, Prime Minister, Chief Justice of the Supreme Court, and the Policy Commission," Yadav, who has carved a niche for himself by organizing one 'bandh' after another to put pressure on the state and central government, said.

The former Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader said that Bihar met all the preconditions that are required for a state to be accorded special status and so there was no reason for the Narendra Modi government to by pussyfooting on this issue.

"Bihar is cursed with natural disasters like flood and drought. Each year lakhs of people have to flee their homes due to flood and crops and properties worth several crore rupees are destroyed in both flood and drought. These are enough reasons for Bihar to be given special economic status without which developments cannot take place in the state," Yadav said declaring the party would hold a Bihar Bandh on July 7 to press for these demands.
