Patna: Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Tejaswi Yadav on Tuesday unloaded on Chief Minister Nitish Kumar saying after the way he had trashed the people's mandate in Bihar by leaving the Mahagathbandhan in 2017, he would never be welcomed in any RJD-led alliance in future.
"Nitish Kumar has burnt too many bridges in his political career. He has proven himself to be unreliable, a backstabber, and a turncoat. He has betrayed the people of Bihar and he has no place in any alliance of which RJD is also a part of. What is the guarantee that he won't stab us in the back again?" Yadav, the former Deputy Chief Minister of Bihar said at a press conference in Patna.
Continuing to attack the Janata Dal – U leader, Yadav, who has emerged as the natural heir to the RJD in the absence of his father who remains imprisoned after being convicted in a number of cases related to fodder scam, said that after what the JD-U leaders have said about Rahul and Sonia Gandhi, even the Congress has shut the door on Nitish Kumar.
"When Rahul Gandhi took me for lunch in Delhi, JD-U leaders were saying that it was the union of two corrupt leaders. Do you think Congress leaders have forgotten it? Rahul Gandhi has made it very clear that RJD is its natural ally and the alliance between the two is long term and not based on short-term interests. Together, we are committed to rid India from the misrule of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)," he said.
There had been some murmur in the media about Kumar once again looking for a safe exit from the BJP-led NDA where, some of his party leaders believe, the Chief Minister feels like he is not being given the due respect that he deserves.
Two of the RJD allies – Congress and Jitan Ram Manjhi-led Hindustani Awam Morcha (HAM) – have openly invited Nitish Kumar to join the Grand Alliance after breaking ties with the BJP though the Chief Minister himself has neither confirmed nor denied the report.
Later in the evening, Kumar called up Lalu Prasad Yadav who is being treated at a hospital in Mumbai, to check on his health condition and to wish quick and full recovery to him.BLOG COMMENTS POWERED BY DISQUS
