Patna: Criminals in Patna did not spare even a lawmaker when they broke into the flat of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) legislator from Kumharar Arun Kumar Sinha on late Saturday night getting away with several thousand of rupees in watches, jewelries, clothing and other valuables.
As reported, Sinha had been away for a few days to attend a family event in Allahabad. On Sunday morning he returned to Patna but went straight to his government allotted bungalow in Chhajjubagh.
Around 10:00 am, one of Sinha's staff members Manish Kumar went to Flat No. 101 in the Ram Vilas Enclave in east Lohanipur under Kadam Kuan police station and found the front door forced open. Once inside, he found the entire apartment turned upside down indicating the burglars were inside the flat for several hours taking their time to go through everything in search of anything valuable.
Kumar then informed the MLA who rushed to his flat, that he uses as his personal office, only to find it completely ransacked.
A forensic team was brought in to record the crime scene in hope of any clue that may lead the police to the criminals.
At closer inspection, police found the video surveillance system in the apartment complex not to be working.
Three watches, a number of expensive saris and other valuables were said to have been missing.
An FIR was lodged with the Kadam Kuan police station.
Authorities are investigating the case, station in-charge Ajay Kumar said.
