Patna: With drums of Parliamentary elections becoming louder by the day, politicians in Bihar have begun assessing their political options as was witnessed on Monday when Monazir Hasan, who was expelled from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in 2015 for engaging in 'anti-party activities', joined Nitish-led Janata Dal – U on Monday in the presence of party state president Vashisht Narayan Singh and others.

Hasan, who began his political career in the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), later broke ties with Lalu Prasad Yadav only to join Janata Dal – U. He then quit JD-U as well and joined the BJP in 2014. He lasted in the saffron party about 17 months after he was expelled from the party for indulging in anti-party activities.

Since then, he had been keeping his options open with talks of him going back to the RJD and even joining Congress Party surfacing time and again.

On Monday, what he described as 'homecoming', Hasan, who represents Begusarai constituency, returned to the JD-U amid much fanfare at the residence of Vashisht Narayan Singh.

Party spokesperson Sanjay Singh and others were present on the occasion.

"Mr. Hasan has been a very hard-working leader from his region and his presence will only make JD-U stronger," said the JD-U state president.

Meanwhile, Hasan, talking to reporters, said the usual stuff that was expected of him

"JD-U is like my family. The party has always treated me like a family member. I have come back to it to strengthen the party and to help Chief Minister Nitish Kumar develop Bihar to communal harmony and prosperity," he said.

Dr. Ashma Parveen joins JD-U on Monday.

Earlier, Singh also inducted 41-year old Dr. Ashma Parveen, a gynecologist, with her root in Vaishali district, into the party.

Parveen, said to be a classmate and a close friend of Misa Bharti, the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) MP and the daughter of Lalu and Rabri Devi, is said to be possibly getting a ticket from Mahua, traditionally an RJD seat, in the next Assembly elections.

She also happens to be the daughter of Ilyas Hussain, the national Vice President of the RJD.

As reported, both Ashma and Misa Bharti were class-fellows at the MGM Medical College in Jamshedpur and later at the Patna Medical College and Hospital (PMCH).
