Patna: It was billed as the 22nd anniversary of the foundation of the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) though instead, it could have easily been called 'Punch Nitish Fest' as the two inheritors of the party founded by their father Lalu Prasad Yadav, Tej Pratap Yadav and Tejaswi Yadav, kept their focus on their 'chacha' Nitish Kumar by offering him unsolicited advices and accusing him of 'destroying' Bihar because of his failed policies.
Tejaswi Yadav, the former Deputy Chief Minister of Bihar and the younger son of Lalu and Rabri Devi, first praised his father, a convicted politician who is out of prison on temporary bail on health grounds, for 'making sacrifices all his life' before advising Kumar to also give up his lust for power and take permanent retirement from politics.
"If Nitish Kumar gives up the leadership of Janata Dal – U, we may consider taking the party back into the Mahagathbandhan fold. Lalu Prasad Yadav made a lot of sacrifices in his life; now 'Chacha' should also take retirement from politics," the former Deputy Chief Minister, brimming with confidence, said on Thursday.
Expecting Nitish Kumar to come to him and beg him to take him back into the Grand Alliance fold, the former Deputy Chief Minister said that even if he offered him to become the Chief Minister of Bihar for a year or two, he would not accept his proposal.
"I don't want to become the Chief Minister based on someone's pity. Instead, I will become the Chief Minister on my own and with the blessings of the people of Bihar. If I can't become the Chief Minister in 2020, I will become the Chief Minister in 2025. Whether Nitish Kumar takes voluntary retirement or not, the voters of Bihar will force him into retirement," he said.
Lalu's elder son and former Bihar Health Minister Tej Pratap Yadav, who is now aspiring to become a movie star after his arguably failed bid in active politics, said that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) was desperately trying to sow seeds of discord between him and his brother but it would not succeed in its evil designs.
"Some anti-social elements want us brothers to be at each other's throat. However, they will never succeed as we will give them an injection shot that would dry up their very roots. Why do you people say the RJD is weak in the absence of Lalu Prasad Yadav? I am here and I also speak in the same style as Lalu Prasad Yadav," the elder brother said.
After putting a crown on the head of Tejaswi Yadav, Tej Pratap said that he was like Lord Krishna and his brother was like Arjun and like Lord Krishna, he will continue to guide and steer his brother's chariot in the coming days.
The movie star hopeful predicted that the BJP was plotting to dump JD-U right before the 2019 Lok Sabha elections and that could mean early state elections in Bihar.
"We have to be prepared for a simultaneous election and our workers must go house to house to convince voters about the real intentions of the saffron party," he said.BLOG COMMENTS POWERED BY DISQUS
