Patna: Fifty-one couples tied into holy matrimony on Sunday at a community wedding organized by the Ma Vaishno Devi Sewa Samiti (MVDSS) at Patna's Sri Krishna Memorial Hall. MVDAA has been organizing this event for the past nine years.

With the hall packed with the brides and grooms' family members and loved ones, the community wedding was performed in the Arya Samaj manner by 51 priests in the presence of Bihar Governor Satya Pal Malik.

After the wedding ceremonies were complete, guests were treated with a lavish feast fit for the occasion.

Speaking on the occasion, Amit Jalan, an MVDSS official, said that each couple were given gift items like bicycles, sewing machines, floor fans, pots and pans, mattresses, clothing items, and LED light bulbs valued at Rs. 1 lakh and donated by philanthropists, charity organizations, and private business houses.

MVDSS founder member Mukesh Hisaria said that the community wedding started by him nine yeawrs ago got a major publicity boost when he was invited by Bollywood superstar Amitabh Bachchan to appear as a guest on the popular game show Kaun Banega Crorepati a couple of years ago.
