Patna: Reacting strongly to Deputy Chief Minister Sushil Kumar Modi's appeal to the Jharkhand court to cancel the provisional bail of Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) president Lalu Prasad Yadav for violating parole conditions, Tejaswi Yadav, Yadav's younger son, fired back at the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader saying Modi had lost his mind and had nothing better to do than badgering his father and other members of his family.
Speaking at a meeting of the RJD legislators at his residence on Thursday, Tejaswi Yadav categorically refuted allegations against his father that he was, against conditions set in his bail papers, engaging in political activities that should sent him back to the jail.
"Laluji is not engaging in any political activity. It is true that the leaders of the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) and Congress leader Ashok Gehlot came to meet my father but not to talk about politics as alleged by Sushil Modi but to enquire about his health," the former Deputy Chief Minister of Bihar said.
Despite the suspicious timing of three MPs of the TDP who met with the RJD chief just two days before the no-confidence vote in the Parliament called by the TDP leader and Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu, the younger Yadav said that it was merely a coincidence and must not be looked through a political prism.
"During my visit to Bangalore on the occasion of H D Kumaraswamy's swearing-in ceremony, Mr. Naidu had enquired about my father's health. He personally wanted to come and see him but since he could not, he sent three of his MPs. That is all there is to it and this allegation that my father is engaging in political activities is patently false," he said.
Taking shot at Modi, Tejaswi Yadav said that the BJP leader was neither a judge or a doctor and his opinion meant nothing.
"My father is sick but if Modi ji is not convinced then he is free to come to our house and check for himself. Furthermore, if that is not enough, he can escort my father to the hospital in Mumbai and talk to the doctors himself," he said adding the BJP leaders had nothing better to do except to keep talking about his family.
Tejaswi Yadav also slammed the Nitish administration for rolling out red carpet for Amit Shah, the BJP national president, who was in Patna a few days ago to participate in a party event.
"While Bihar is in the grip of drought and millions of people are affected by it, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar rolls out red carpet for Shah. The state does not have money for the drought victims but has plenty of money to spend on Shah's visit," said the RJD leader.BLOG COMMENTS POWERED BY DISQUS
