Patna: Residents near Nalanda Medical College and Hospital (NMCH) in Patna on Friday found the dead body of Deepak Kumar, the son of Janata Dal – U legislator Bima Bharti, from the railway track as the police began an investigation into the case suspecting foul play in his death.
The victim, said to be in his mid to late-20's, was found dead on the railway track on Friday morning. His body was sent to the hospital for an autopsy. Police said they found signs of injuries on Deepak's head and thigh areas.
Reports said Deepak, who rents a flat nearby, had gone to party with his friends in Musallahpur Hat. Later at some point of the night, he was returning home when he was either murdered and abandoned on the railway track or he fell off and died of his injuries caused by rocks on the track.
Though the cause of the death remains under investigation, authorities are not ruling out anything including accident, murder, and suicide.
Bima Bharti, a legislator from Rupauli in Purnia district, upon hearing the news of the death of her son was inconsolable saying he was murdered and the police must find his killer or killers immediately and throw the book on them.
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Manu Maharaj and DIG Rajesh Kumar visited the place from where the victim's body was found to take stock of the situation.
"There are surveillance cameras in the area and we would be scouring through it to find any clue in the case," the SSP said adding two of the victim's friends have been detained for questioning.BLOG COMMENTS POWERED BY DISQUS
