CM Expresses Grief over the Death of DMK Leader Karunanidhi

Patna: Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Tuesday expressed his grief over the death of former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and the leader of the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) party M Karunanidhi who passed away at a hospital in Chennai at the age of 94.

"With the passing away of Mr. Karunanidhi, India has lost a veteran leader and a statesman. He put democratic values of the country above everything else and was a source of social and economic empowerment for his entire life. I had a very close relationship with him and his death has caused a huge loss to the nation. I pray for his soul and wish for inner peace for his loved ones who he left behind," the Chief Minister said.

Earlier, Kumar called Karunanidhi's daughter and consoled her on the demise of her father.

As reported, the five-time Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu and the President of DMK for the last five decades, Mr. Karunanidhi died at the Kauvery Hospital at 6:10 pm on Tuesday.

The veteran leader was suffering from a number of age-related illness and was admitted to the ICU on July 28.
