Patna: Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Monday met with Bihar Governor Satya Pal Malik at Raj Bhawan to discuss a number of issues facing Bihar though the Chief Minister's office dubbed it merely as a 'courtesy call'.
With CBI, the nation's premier investigative agency, probing into a number of sexual abuse cases in Bihar's shelter homes for women and girls and an over-zealous opposition more than eager to exploit it for political purposes, officials downplayed the Chief Minister's concerns about rising cases of such incidents saying the conversation between the two mostly was about improving higher education in Bihar and development of decaying historical places across the state.
"The Governor has just returned after visiting the mosque of Shershah Suri and the fortress in Rohtasgarh and has expressed his concerns over their condition. He wanted to make the Chief Minister aware of his observations and that is why this meeting was arranged," said a senior official in the CM's office adding the meeting between the two lasted nearly 45 minutes.
Sources, however, said that the Governor also expressed his concerns over sexual abuse cases in various shelter homes in Bihar and asked Kumar to take necessary measures to stop such incidents from taking place in future.BLOG COMMENTS POWERED BY DISQUS
